FOOTBALL: DeSoto Runs Through Sebring

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

SEBRING, October 25, 2008 – The DeSoto Bulldogs intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown in the first quarter, then blocked and ran their way to more than 200 first half yards enroute to a 48-12 victory over the Sebring Blue Streaks Friday night at Firemen’s Memorial Field.

The loss drops Sebring to 1-6 on the year.

Junior Marcus Shaw proved too much and too fast for Sebring’s struggling defenders, who have been vulnerable to big, fast runners this year.

Many times the Blue Streak defenders were out of position, and even when they weren’t, they were unable to fend off blocks as Shaw sprang to the outside like a gazelle or zig-zagged through the middle like a snake.

To their credit, though, Sebring never gave up, and the players added a fourth-quarter touchdown to remind DeSoto they still had fight in them.

The public address announcers called out all the names of the Sebring cheerleaders, who have done a good job all year, described a terrifice hafltime show by the DeSoto and Sebring bands, and heralded Sara Saenz, whose birthday was the day of the game, proclaiming that she had made the varsity Lady Streaks soccer team.
