SEBRING, Feb. 19, 2009 – It looked like another comeback. The Blue Streaks basketball team had trailed most of the game, in their own gym, to a Lakeland Kathleen team decimated by misconduct suspensions and sustained by an influx of JV players.

The Blue Streaks waited until the fourth quarter this time to unleash what appeared to be a game-winning onslaught. And with just over a minute, Sebring held a tenuous 53-50 lead.

It was a minute too much.

The Streaks missed the front end of three consecutive one-and-one free throws tat could have put the game away, and they could not stop a desperate Kathleen on the defensive end. The result was missed opportunities and an all-too-quick turnaround, with the Streaks falling behind, 57-53.

Still, with 13 seconds left, the Blue Streaks had a chance. Here’s how that chance played out:

And so Sebring bowed out of the 2009 season. Jake Trussell finished as the high scorer for the Streaks with 12. J.C. Howard, Joe Young, and Tevin Toney each contributed 8.
